I have a Hilux 92 model and have recently had the 2.8 litre motor replaced with 3 litre motor. Since the change, the taco no longer works and the mechanic informed me that it is due to a problem with different pumps and is unable to rectify the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how it might be fixed.

Hinks.
Not sure on this ,but you may be able to fit electric tacho, run from alternator.? might mean having a connection done in the alternator.
Cheers axle.

Thanx axle. Looked into this possibility however I was informed that the alternator needs to be pulled apart and the tacho recalibrated. Will head this way if it is the best but was just hoping for an easier solution. Should mention that the new motor is out of a HiAce. Cheers, Tony

Hinks.
If you fit the original alternator from the 2.8 it will work agian, the calibration is dependant on the ratio of the v belt pulleys, so if the new motor has the same diameter pulley you should be ok. Eric.

I dont know why, the Taco takes a pulse signal from a sender in the injector pump.
