Hey guys Haven't posted in a while but need some advice I have had a Nissan patrol 4.2 td a 2001 model in at work with a not reving problem ie it wouldnt go over 2-3000 rpm unless you pump the hand primer then it would rev freely Now we diagnosed it as been a injector pump problem and set about organising the bloke to get settled in the caravan
park for a few days while we sent it away. So he went to unpack but stopped in to see a mate who was having his vehicle reapired at another
shop and asked the bloke there about the problem and he fixed by adjusting something at the pump?? what did he adjust? I would ring and ask the guy but it is kind of embarising and I know all you blokes on exploroz are so helpfull cheers sam

swallow your pride, and just ring the bloke, and save the customer money in vanpark fees...

A very small air leak into the fuel line will cause a similar problem, fixed by tightening a hose connection?
Find out an let us know!

Hi Sam
Have a look at the "O" ring at the bottom of the fuel filter this some times leaks air into the system.
also inspect the plastic fitting in the bottom of the filter, I have seen these crack and cause the problem you describe

Had the reverse problem once , could not turn the engine off. A small piece of metal ????? under the cutoff solenoid was the culprit , still have no idea where it came from and hasn't happened again . FWIW your problem as mentioned , either air leak or restriction in the fuel circuit.

No the vehicle is already repaired he is on his way and happy he was the one that came back in and told beleive me I rang as many place's as I could to find out what was wrong with the vehicle. believe me the customer is all sorted out. We dont rebuild injector pumps in
weipa maybe the guy from the other workshop has experience with pumps and just readjusted the pump and it may possibly do the same thing again??
