A question for the Oziexplorer experts. All my "map" files are pointing to my Natmap files in drive C.
I have just transferred all my Natmap files to a USB flash drive which is drive E. How can I refigure all my "map" files stored in C drive to point to the Natmap files in drive E, without having to go into my 'map" files one at a time and change the configuration
Hope this makes sense
Cheers

Just go to configuration (alt-c) and change the map file path under the 'system' tab, or add the extra drive to search under the 'map images' tab.

As an addition to the info, the sequence for checking for image locations is as follows:

-The link to the image file stored in the .map file is checked
-The folder where the .map file is stored is checked
-The Image File Paths are checked (if specified)
-The Drives which have been ticked are checked
-The CDROM drives (if the option is enabled) are determined and checked.

If two or more images for the one .map file, then the correct image may not load (in my case, i have seen images updated with tracks etc via "save map to image file").
I'm still not convinced that people need to have .map files located in a seperate directory to the images as some do......

A better (?) way would be to File==>Import==>Oziexplorer Map Files (*.map) on CD........even though it says CD's it is designed for any file path location (actually only what your Windows browse will let you).

I tried that but without success. My .map files are stored on drive C but the map images are stored on drive E. I have set the path's as suggested but Ozi still cannot find the the map images

ia it worthwhile for you to just copy the .mapfiles to E: in the same directory as the images? They are only around 2k afterall and do not take up much room in the real scheme of things.....may save all the heartache :-)

There is/was a program i was playing with ages ago that would batch edit your .map files as they are only a simple text file after all (just with a different extension). I can't remember if it was an Ozi utility or just a nifty text editor (replacing notepad). I don't use it anymore (obviously) as i normally just delete any reference to image location when creating .map files.

Got it sorted out. The easiest way to explain is "Typing Errors". It is working fine now. Decided to change my map images from a spinning "D" drive to a solid state usb flash drive. I was worried about the D drive getting damaged over corrugated roads. If anyone is contemplating the same, here is a tip. When you buy a 2GB USB Flash drive you will only be able to store 1.2 to 1.3 GB of data, just short of all the NatMaps, disc 1 & 2. Best to get a 4GB flash drive

Finally found it.......too late though :-)

Check out MAP2PPC from Site Link . It is designed for editing .map files as you requested. Could be worthwhile remembering for future use.
