Has anyone tried fitting their own aftermarket coils and struts to a new Hiulx . I'm after a bit of info on how to do it. I know the tortion bar need to come off s you can fit in the spring compressors. Any other tips?

One Question, Wildwest
Why???
Any good engineering /
suspension works should be able to advise you on what to do.
My guess is that they will say "Don't mess with it"
I suspect that cost would be rather LARGE for very little benefit.
Would be interested to hear how you go!

Hi Wildwest
I had ARB do the job for me, 50mm lift, medium rated springs and coils. One day and $2000 now it is a great handling Lux.
Just a note: once you lift it you will get a little prop shaft vibration if you go 50mm lift.
Good Luck

Your viabration may not be the prop shaft i have a slight viabration pulling up to lights and when first take off and its the rear pads stick on slightly and when you brake heavy to a stop you feel them release, mr toyota said this was normal... as they do. I just replaced the coils with kings and the and they only charged $120 to do the job and had them reset and fit an extra leaf to the rear all up $370.

I had ARB fit
mine also (OME) - Medium set-up all round.
It has totally changed the Hilux for the better, Its
well worth messing with it.
I had no vibration issues, very very happy :-)

No i had Kings do at lonsdale sa.After fitting f/bull bar,winch,d/bat,air comp it dropped the front end by 40mm so i went for h/duty coils and lifted it 75mm (35mm) from original and drove much nicer. The rear was ok until we towed the camper up north and found only to have about 30mm bump stop clearance so we had the same company reset and add an extra leaf wich lifted 50mm and its great, you can buy kings ready made leafs but it was dearer.

I have had bluemax 40mm
suspension fitted, works
well. BTW they don't have tortional
suspension in the new Hilux's

I've got the OME on
mine. Got about 40mm lift at the front and 60 at the back.
After our recent big trip to
Kimberley etc, I checked and the front had dropped almost 25mm. Took it back to ARB and they are going to fit new coils under warranty.
Rear is holding up very
well, despite the weights I carry at times. But I have Firestone airbags fitted, so that helps.
