Can anyone advise on which months the WA Ocean School Salmon run? I have been to
Preston Beach and while its a beautiful beach I could not get a hit on lures?..Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
Cheers..........Con

I think it is summer into autumn.
For salmon you can catch all year round try east of
esperance as they dont really have a recognised season down south

Not an uncommon event with salmon, quite often you will see them but they won't take a bait or lure, although you may be wasting your time with a lure if you cannot actually see them.
They should be around the place about now but could still be offshore untill the run starts to head south, when they quite often come in a bit closer.

Hi Con, I live in Margaret River area, the salmon come here around
Easter time, but catching them is another thing, further up the coast towards
Perth later in season towards late Autumn. Trying to eat them after you catch 'em is another thing. The usual saying is chuck a stone in with the fish when cooking and when the stone is soft ditch the fish and eat the stone .... Ric

Hi All,
The secret of cooking Aust salmon is to bleed as soon as caught, gut them, cut away all the red bits then fill the cavity with tomato, onions & herbs Wrap in 2-3 layers of alfoil &
cook on a BBQ (no need to scale as the skin comes away easily after cooking)
Then give them to neighbours: LOL
Cheers
Disco
PS; fillets soaked o/night in milk & then cooked as above are not too bad if there has been a bit of a fish drought.

They would have to be the last fish in the ocean. te he
I've tried em every way I can think of and one thing remains the same. They're crap!
Great for catch and release though. The make pretty good bait too.
Give me fresh squid, Flathead or KG anyday.
