Oh no, it's over- where did that 6 weeks go? Just got back from
Kimberley trip- Tanami/Gibb/Mitch. Falls/C.Leveque etc. 6 weeks. What a fantastic part of the world- Highlights: just the fact that we could
bush camp just about all the way, the space, night skies, friendly people- locals/travellers etc. Lowlights: none really, (grumpy staff at DRS), - Stats: 10,000kms covered @ just under 10litres/100kms, fuel averaged $1.60/litre, highest Rabbit Flat- of course- at $2.20/litre, almost worth it for Bruce's entertaining chat, Engel and cryovac meat brilliant, but ciggie connectors for fridge/light to 2nd battery need upgrading (suprised ARB didn't fit HD ones when putting in the 2nd battery). Roads as expected, som crap, some not to bad at all. Just glad we live here in Oz after arriving home and flicking on the TV. Cheers to all just starting out on their hol's.

Hi Tony,
.... so it appears the same as last year, fantastic area and trip, this year we had to stay home (Margaret River) something to do with
the glut in the wine industry. But u mentioned "DRS"?, pardon my igornance but who the hell are they?

Tony, can you tell me what facilities they have at
cape Leveque now? When I was there 10 years ago I think they only had
beach huts and maybe a restaurant?
Planning to pop in there in a few years and would like to know what they have there now.
Cheers

peter11's attachment has all the details but when we checked it out it was booked out. The $5 per head for visitors to walk to
the beach annoyed some of them a little, but that's another story- we kept on driving to "Frank's Place' at Gambanan, north of Kool. near One Arm Point- He and his family run a few
camp sites right above the
water- we camped in the gravel pits nearby 1 night then took up one- basic facilities, but no one else around- and you get Frank and his wife drop by and explain the area, fishing, their culture etc.- all for next to nothing- we felt that we were very lucky.
