I had been going around innocently thinking to myself that the new Hilux was ugly.
Not desperately ugly but just ugly in a Toyota sort of way. (think current Camry, Echo
sedan, Crown,
Avalon etc to get a sense of the family genes)
Then I saw the new Triton in the metal!!! That is UGLY. What were they thinking?
I'm now waiting for the new Courier/Mazda to come out in September/October.
My question is, which do you all think is more ugly, Triton on Hilux.

That's why everything gets out of the way when the add goes "get in or get out of the way"
I think I'll get out of the way!
It's also known as 'FLUF' - Fat Little Ugly Fokker.

Both
IMHO all the so called SUV's (hilux, triton, navara, rodeo, bravo/courier) are ugly, even worse than the dreaded Lada Niva or the Series Landrovers, ........ or the infamous Austin Champ.
A truck should LOOK like a truck, not a
sedan with the a tray stuck on the back end.
Guess that will stir up a few replies?
LOL

Disagree on Series LR and WW2 Jeep for that matter. Both were a case of form following function.
Besides they had a type of uglyness you just had to love.

Showing our age now "The old Austin Champ" That was butt Ugly,What a classy front end grill etc, it was also my First 4wd but it took a lot of years to get a 4wd to be as comfortable! never was there a better river crosser & look Now we all fit
snorkel's & it was standard
pity it was a peace of junk but fond memories & a great learning curve on what to never buy & how to fix/make do

I think the Jap's are competing to make the ugliest car ever!
Toyota- White goods on wheels.
Toyotas are good, reliable cars and are bought by a wide variety of people who have zero personality to go with their cars and are basically chicken- bleep scared people who will never take chances and will therefore be driving Toyotas forever.
;-)

Glen, maybe it's just me - but I think Toyo has gone a bit 'metrosexual' with the latest rigs - just don't look like serious 4wd's.
Flame away ! :-)

BWAHAHAHAHA! Perhaps Toyota owners just like good reliable vehicles, unlike anything produced in England :-)
Their cars are like their planes...Heaps of bleep . My father made stacks of moey from British car owners from the 60's to 80's fixing them.....And their aircraft are like their cars....Get 'em wet and its electrical problems everywhere :-) Had more breakdowns in British Aerospace's fine products than anything else I've flown :-)
Wife's old KE30 Corolla did over 300,000km with little intervention.

I agree Glen, Toyota's are good, reliable cars. Their owners won't take a chance changing brands when they're satisfied with the reliability of their vehicles. However it has nothing to do with personality or lack thereof. I agree they might be chicken bleep scared. I would be too if my only alternative was something made in England :-)
Gidday. (Ducks and Runs)..................Smiling most sincerely..

pilbaradisco . The discos are made for people that have absolutely no idea what a 4WD is. (Hence the vehicle) They were made for people who have alot of money and no brains and probably never been 4Wdriving in their life. (Hence the vehicle) They are unreliable, look like crap and have a very large rear vision mirror ( So the owner can see himself in it ) Personality?? Not in that vehicle. bleep scared people.. in a disco maybe. Toyota has long history of guts and reliability.

No one mentioned Disco's until you did!!
We have not been discussing (your words)"guts and reliability" but rather an individuals perception of what a good 4WD should look like.
I happen to agree with you that Scott M's vehicle looks a "real"4by but obviously others disagree.
As usual the mention of Landrover or things pommy brings out the one eyed Toysan devotees in force.
I am not a great fan of Toysans, I prefer my Disco but that does not make me wrong or misguided, just discerning.
Cheers
Disco

Ugly award goes to the Toyota, Hands down. No questions asked, end of story.
They look like a F250 that has been kicked in the nuts and headbutted. Toyota has lost the plot. Why would anyone try to fix something that was not wrong? The old 60 series to modern day ( Up until now ) HAD style. Looks and performance. Im not putting bleep on Toyota I own one. ( 91 Troopy )

Ill vote for the hilux, although the tray rear of the cab/ front of tray on the triton could raise a few eyebrows??
The biggest dissapoinment for me with the hilux is the lack of ground clearance. Followed one on some sand tracks yesterday, it was great, cleared away the tops of the track which ment I had less sand to clean out from underneath the rodeo. We wont be able to call them a "rolux" any more- too low a centre of gravity!!

The Hilux is a bit on the nose but the Triton is something else. That's the biggest ugly mother of an ugly ute I've ever seen, what the hell they were thinking when they signed off on that thing I don't know. I'd rather die in
the desert than be rescued by one of those.
