Can Any one tell me when the 100 seriies first came out what Turbo Diesel motors were available
At First was it only the natural aspirated 1HZ

Or was the 1HD-FT availible (multi-valve)

When did the 1HD-FET (4.2 EFI) come out

Been researching all week end and couldnt find an answer

Thanks
Luke

According to the Redbook, the TD came out in 2000. Yes only the 1HZ was available on release. The TD could be had with a 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto. I think at the time they replaced the 4.5 6cyl petrol with the 4.7 V8, they also replaced the auto with a 5 speeder and updated the dash - chrome trimming around the dials etc., but the TD didn't change.

Cheers,

Mark.

looks like the HDJ105R came out in 2000 ... suggest Research Cars on www.carsales.com.au for available model varients ... although you might not be able to tell if the FT vs FET change happened without changing the model name.

Yep the Sahara was actually called the GXV back then and it runs the same V8 they're using today. The 80 series wasn't lucky enough to score a V8.

When the 100 series 1st come out the 4.7L V8 produced 170KW and 410NM. Todays 100 series still has a 4.7L V8 producing 170KW and 410NM.

If you were after a dig I've just taken hook, line & sinker hey?

The GXV came out with the V8 while the standard models (RV, GXL etc) had the 6 from the start, then as you say the 6 was dropped for the V8 across the range. Now Sahara V8 is same as GXL V8.

Hey luch,

Even though Toyota fitted the turbo, don't be fooled into thinking it's the same as the factory turbo diesel as they are completely different engines. It's interesting that Toyota fitted it as they openly state they don't recomment adding a turbo to the naturally aspirated 4.2 (1HZ).

The 1HD-FT was only available in the 80 series
The 1HD-FTE came out in 2000 in the 100 series IFS and the Troopie and Cab chassis about the same time but without the intercooler.

The FTE is EFI, and has a redesgined block for extra strength and oil flow. Very different motor to the 1HZ, similair ot the 1HD-FT but with some block improvements, EFI and a few other bits
