with the recent rains up north does anyone know what the track conditions would be like on the canning given that we wont be there for about 4 weeks and what is the likleyhood of picking up decent
drinking water(or even washing
water) along the track even in normal circumstances...thanks

Plenty of
water at Durba Springs (Bloody Freezing cold) and
Well 18 for washing.
Georgia Bore is also available tastes like crap but good for a wash.

You could ring the people at Well33 to find out what their customers are saying about track conditions. A couple of weeks ago I was told that there had been heavy falls on the CSR.

The rule I have always followed when going bush is "1 gallon per person per day".
This is sufficient for cooking, drinking and the occaisional sponge down.
Yes, there is good
water on the CSR but don't count on getting to it if you have a breakdown. Keep safe!
We travel the CSR with
water purifying tablets and a purifyer pump (both available from
Ranger Camping) for any emergency.
Water from
Wiluna is good - the best is at
Well 6 (Pierre Springs) with reconditiond
well.
Plenty of opportunities between
Well 6 and
Georgia Bore but wouldn't like to rely on many of them.
Georgia bore has a very easy
hand pump and give heaps of "warm"
water - good for a scrub!
Showers available at Kunawartiji Community and a good
windmill and
tank at
well 33.
North of W33, I have no idea - we were flooded out last year and couldn't get through to
Halls Creek!
Good Luck!
Andy
