I got my mate to pick one up for me last Sat at Super Cheap as they had their 20% off sale. It's for Patrol diesel's 2.8,3.0,4.2 and 4.2td from 98-sept 04. I thought this sounds fine. I looked at one my BIL had about 12 months ago and it had all the fault codes for the 3.0l. I thought that's handy to have in the car just incase! Anyways the manual I have doesn't have the fault codes. I called my BIL and his manual is only for the 3.0l Patrol from 2000-2002. Both manual's are identified as No.519 as well. So buyer beware!!

Gregory's #520 is for 100 series LC but older stock still in shops only goes to 02 and doesnt cover the 1HD-FTE.

By the way has anyone used the Max Ellery manuals??

Yes. I have one for my TD Prado. Believe it or not, it was cheaper to buy the manual through Amazon.com and have it delivered from the USA (arrived within two weeks. The ridiculous part is that it was around $80 in Aus but mid $50s delivered and the manual is made in Melbourne. Stupid huh! The manuals are very in depth and, compared to the new Gregory's manuals, much more comprehensive. The Gregory's manuals of 20 years ago were workshop manuals. These days they just seem to be basic service manuals with some of the workshop content - not all.

Gregory's updated #519 a year or two ago to include the td42 motor, though there aint much detail on the 4.2, as you don't have to do anything apart from service these landmark motors;-). Seriously though, the detail on the 4.2 is left wanting when compared to the 3.0 ltr.

Well the detail is lacking on both engines. How can you diagnose probs on an ECU controlled vehicle without fault codes? An elementary part of the manual I would of thought.

Yeah went through this some time ago.
I ordered the manual 519 and didn't have the fault codes in it.
(I own a workshop) so the only one I could get at the time was $300.00 but it covered about nearly every model on the road today (2006).
I have had it about 6 months and it has already paid for itself.

In your situation It would pay for itself being in the industry. I wanted one for more for interest sake. I will have to do a bit of photo copying of the parts I'm missing from my BIL's me thinks!
