Thank you all for your recent advice on handheld uhf radios. I have been convinced to get another fixed uhf which I will remove again before we sell the car. My wife hasn't been convinced yet , I am still concocting a story/method on that front, advice is welcome on ways of lessening the repercussions. Decided on a syncro eagle value pack from prestige communications, I liked its compact size and I have purchased from this company before. Here's hoping it works and I survive my wife's response.

Talk to her about the necessity for a reliable UHF set when travelling. Point out that H/Hds just don't have the range or battery capacity. Mention that it could save your lives.
If that doesn't work, diamonds are a sure thing :)))

Good advice thankyou. Funny that, you get tol off for spending money on a radio, but you can spend as much as you like on jewellery :-).

never heard of them....
i am guessing the extra 360 channels are going to very quiet....i suspect the channels were what police used in various states b4 going over to the new system.
if thats the only reason of getting the syncro, i give it a miss and get one of the better known brands

I don't know if it has any extra channels, the price and dimensions were what sold me.

not sure but the gme 3200 looks smaller.
then theres the 3400 remote head unit
the syncro unit can have an additional 360 recieve only channels ...but as i said doubt if you'd hear very much these days now that they coppers ect etc have all moved...but it would have been great back then...we all had to get commercial sets, mod em, and reduce cough cough cough transmit power to make em legal..cough cough cough..ie maximum 5 watt output instead of 25w to have this capability...but all i hear these days are a few channles from time to time being used by yahoos

Ambos here in Alice still have an open uhf frequency, however interest value would be very limited. I certainly don't want to hear work when I'm not there. As you say police have gone digital, not sure that would be very interesting either though, numerous alcohol fuelled assaults adnauseum.

Good choice of Radio mate, will take you a while to get the hang of things on how to do settings , it is very much like the ICOM , Member No 1 must be a bit backward when it comes to radio , go to this web site from Nambour
www.syncroelec.com.au/ and click this link > product directory , he has some very good gear there ,The Eagle is his doing.
