Hi,
we have been on the road for a while and our next leg is from
batemans bay to Dubbo to visit the zoo. We are travelling with three
young children (4,3,1) and want to stop for a night in two
places on the way to dubbo. I don't know the area, on the map it would seem logical to go to
Goulburn or Yass, then
Orange or
Bathurst and then onto Dubbo.
I am looking for suggestions on two logical stopping points on the way to dubbo, good van parks (we have a Jayco Swan) with good kids playground facilities etc, powered sites (ensuite even better). We are trying to limit the travel to 3 hours a day if possible.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
thanks and regards

Goulburn will be freeeezing...... don't know where you'd stay there, but I would pick
Bathurst over
Orange.
Cheers

Holty,
Goulburn is definitely very cold at this time of the year. However, there is a site called badgers caravan
park report that gives the South
Goulburn cp a good wrap. You could use this site to check
Orange or
Bathurst. Personally I'd go via
Orange as
well. Have a good trip.

Holty,
You could always go BBay -
Canberra - Yass - Boorowa - Cowra - Dubbo instead of through
Goulburn,
Orange,
Bathurst. That said you'll get better
services in the larger towns but it's a part of the world you may miss out on.

This would by my preferred route. The road from
Goulburn to
Bathurst is not a good one for towing - it is narrow, winding and gravel in some sections.
If you are going through
Canberra the shortest way to Dubbo is through Cowra.
Canberra is worth a stay and is warmer than
Goulburn - stay at EPIC (the show ground - in Lyneham.)

Head up the coast about three hours and stay at Shoalhaven Heads Tourist
Park . It has a great kids playground , games room and spotless ensuite sites . Being on the coast it will be nowhere near as cold as inland but you can head inland from there. The managers are very good friends of
mine and the staff bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable.
