Can you get longer A arm wishbones for the IFS?

A light hearted report, but shows what can be done - a good solution.

Ivan how does your auto go in the soft sand and bogged situations if many? ;)

Some of my expert mates seem to think that there is issues with the torque converter loading up at to higher revs causing unnecessary wheel spin in the above situations, making you worse off than when you had started.

I'm trying to decide between auto or manual for a 4.2TD.
I have the 1HZ 80 series manual so im used to crawling my way out of problems.

Any help is appreciated.

As for the auto Vs manual debate, give me an auto box for sand driving any day. In fact, any 4WDriving except really heavy towing [they get hot].

Rough roads and soft sand?

The Jayco campers have a wider wheel track than most 4Wd's, except maybe the big ford's or dodge's. This can be a hindrance in soft sand like a heavy beach. Also no too good in muddy tracks where trenches and ruts are to be negotiated.

The interior of a Jayco camper is caravan like..... cupbourds, sink, fridge etc; which aren't so condusive to really rough stuff.

Owners like myself, Doggy tease and maybe Jimbo, I don't know, will go to off road campsites, but I don't think many would take one thru far north queensland and way outback in NT without expecting problems.

They are super comfortable for what we want. We usually explore away from and then back to the Jayco, then pack up and move on, being sensible about the kind of roads we take.

We have good friends who have very few inibitions about thier Jayco, they don't let much stop them, but Bazz is always doing small repairs, fixing this and that, welding this and that, strengthening this and that. But he's good at that kind of stuff and has the time and inclination for it.

There are many places that hire Jayco and/or other makes, and I would recommend you hire before you buy, or travel with someone with one and see for yourself.
