Hi all, is anybody else using the explorist 500 GPS that can help me?
I'm having trouble getting the conversion manager to recognize the GPS, after I have selected the 'convert, waypoints/routes etc' option and clicked next all the manuals say that the next screen should be the 'conversion screen, instead it gives me the 'connect GPS and turn it on' screen, having already done this with the GPS in 'file transfer' mode, I click next and it comes up 'No Magellin explorist found', with a 'retry' and a 'cancel' button. Have tried different ports, turning it on when that screen comes up, having it already turned on, nothing works.
What have I missed ?

Hello - always difficult to solve problems like this from a distance. Firstly it is important (obviously) that you are in fact connecting to the eXplorist in the first instance (you have not stated this ..maybe you are). eXplorists connect to PCs in same fashion as external storage devices (e.g. card reader) so when connected should show up as another drive on your computer e.g. Removable Disc (L:). Is thsi happening? If not the you will need to sort this out first. What operating system do you have on your PC, as this can be an issue.
Also give the conversion manager program the flick and use the recently release Mapsend Lite version 2 - it has all conversion programs integrated and is much more user friendly - though until you solve your connection issues will not be much help.

Hi Explorer,
Sorry, should have explained more, yes the GPS is definately hooking up to the puter, removable disk (F:) with the folders on my GPS coming up for me to open if I wish.
Am running windows XL. I have uploaded detailed maps previously using conversion manager with no problems, was a while ago ( don't use the GPS regularly enough ) and didn't have any problems, I am sure it just went from the 'convert waypoints/ routes' page straight to the conversion board.
I usualy have the GPS turned on and connected before I open conversion manager.
So as I said, the puter is definately recognising the GPS, the problem lies with conversion manager not locating it.
Will look at the new version later as I'm still putting routes together manually in the GPS for a ride tomorrow, as I couldn't work out what was wrong with conversion manager.
If you have any more ideas I'd be glad to try them as my thumb is getting awfull sore:-)

Well at this stage cant be much help - cant think of what maybe the issue. I have an eXploirst 600 but rarely mess around with routes. Use OziExplorer most of the time anyway. Good luck.
