Has anyone found a supplier for an adjustable rear panhard rod that will fit a 1992 Pathfinder as
mine is busted.
On a recent trip through the Pilbarra in WA, I managed to snap the rear panhard rod. I thought that there would be lots of other
suspension components that I would break before the panhard rod. After about 3,500km on this trip towing a camper and over 1000km on very corrugated roads, I was glad that the final break occurred at low speed only 5km from the highway.
I did a trackside repair (really nice) with four strong tent pegs tied around the offending panhard rod with heaps of nylon chord then Gaffa taped for added security ( I couldn't find any fencing wire). This got me over 150 km back to
Carnarvon where I had it welded as
well as they could at 4:30 on a Friday arvo (beer O clock).
Anyway I got the Pathy and family back home 900km to
Perth the following day.
Has anyone got an adjustable rear panhard rod on their WD21 Pathfinder or Terrano. The wreckers over here want so much (shi#@ $180 for a second-hand one) that I could buy a new one from 4way or the like if they make one.
I have been to almost every 4WD
shop in
Perth. A GQ Patrol unit has the same diameter bush housing on both ends (as the Pathy) but is only 970mm long. My Pathfinder with 2.5in lift needs a panhard rod of 1015mm (centre to centre).
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Surley you could get the adjustable type for the GQ then? I know there are some monster lifted GQ's around
perth that would require longer adjustable rods than standard... I know guys with GQ's that have huge lifts.
It seems to be a common problem with lifted GQ's too, I know too guys personally that have either snapped or bent panhard rod's in reasonably easy terrain...

Yes I think some of the GQ ones might extend far enough. However I have measured one on a 5" lifted GQ and it is still only 990mm long (20mm over standard), I need 1015mm.

Hi Geordie
Can't be a lot of help with the panhard but curious what lift kit did you fit to the front and are there any tyre wear issues?
Regards Kev

Kev,
No tyre wear problems at the moment.
I have used the Superlift brand upper control arms at the front. I have also replaced all the bushes, ball joints and fitted lower profile bump rubbers to get better articulation (be careful with this as there is a safe limit). I have also heard bad things about fitting ball joint spacers to the top. HD torsion bars are from Japan NISMO I think. Tyre wear has been an issue but only when the alignment is out from worn ball joints and when the tie-rod ends or drag link are loose. The steering linkages, pitman are, drag link and tie-rods in these things are notorious for movement then scrubbing tyres on one side. I am currently working on a new steering setup, when the panhard rod is fixed.
At the rear I have Lovells HD springs which give about 2.5" empty and 2" when lightly loaded. I have rubber coil spring spacers top and bottom (
conveyor belt rubber). Poly air-bags help to keep it level when fully loaded and towing a trailer.
Shocks are ARB all round. they give a good ride and articulation.

Contact Ferdi at Blacktown, he probably won't even to whip you one up, he will just pull it off the shelf.
My son has a GU with full 4" lift and sourced his panhard from Ferdi, the rest of the components come from Simon at 4Way who are across the road from Ferdi.
If you need more info send me a member messsage and I will be happy to chase up contact details

Thanks to all of you that replied,
I have now got contact details from Snake Racing, 3rds productions and Superior Engineering.
Snake have replied that their GQ rod will extend that far so I may have a winner.

Yes Wilkinsons had a panhard rod from a 80 to 100 series Landcruiser that was adjustable to about the correct length and only needed some modifications to the bushes to fit.
Thanks
