Launceston 4x4 have versions of the lights? I am looking at buying some but was after any comment from someone who has fitted them already. They seem good value at $95 each with the holes to fit globes but unfortunately no wiring. There is a pic at the website where I found them which looks the goods: www.launceston4x4.com.au/taillights.html

Is there a better option that I have not discovered in my troll through the net?

G'Day JamieMac,

You do see these on eBay everynow and then - usually a bit cheaper than the prices given on your link. Depends how soon you want them I guess?

Cheers
Scoey!

Be careful as some aftermarket lamps are not fitted with heat shields as are the genuine and have been known to melt and in some instances catch fire. There was a post several months back where the person had cut his own globe holder holes in the dummy lamps and got some globe holders and wired them up himself. He also managed to get the red section apart from the housing by carefully "drizzling" thinners from a syringe along the join line. I presume you are refering to the GU4 and if so there is already wiring and a plug taped back at the left rear. You need to run three? wires I think from the left side of the vehicle to the right side because not all the required wiring on the right side is fitted at the factory. I ran my wires up the LR pillar and across the roof space to avoid going outside the body and having to drill holes in the floor and cause potential dust entry points and decided against going under the floor mat which would have caused a lump under the carpet in the cargo area.

Nissan sell working lights as a special part. These are expensive though, around $330 a pair.

Earth, Tail and Reverse need to be ran from pasenger side to the drivers, Brake and indicator are already there tucked in the guard,

when we sold them, we ran 2 wires from the passenger to drivers side under the plastic tray where the doors close on the floor and earthed the drivers light to the mounting bolt.

Beware of cheap aftermarket lights, they fade and can melt etc.

Hello Jamie,

I too have seen the genuine Nissan rear lights "fully functioning" and mesaged the seller. She told me the wiring is in the car already, and although the Type |
"A" lights appear in the workshop manual, I have yet to find the wiring. These are offfered occaisionally. Apparently they are Saudi Arabian market light types. The photo clearly showed the three colour segments, wiring harness and bulb holders.
