Have just been having a browse through the Trek section of our site and couldn't determine if any of the Treks were suitable for a troopy plus caravan.

Has anyone tried these Treks in NSW with a caravan?

Bob,

Interesting post - we are currently looking at extending our rating system to include things like - Campers, Caravans, Bikes, Trailers etc etc. I am also scouting around for some writers to submit treks for Caravans, I am looking to allocate a reasonable budget to this task so if people are interested please let us know. We want to get some of the major tar routes also so do not think we are only wanting off road advertures.

Also if people have done some of the treks with various types of vehicles please report your findings and we will use this data to start building the updated ratings system.

To David and Bob,

I have been up and down the East coast a dozen times a year for the last 10 years in various vans (generally staying at free camps around the place). The treks on this site tend to not be really suited for on road vans for the entire trek but some would be suitable for a van to get to a nice camp nearby and offload the van and continue exploring the rest of the trek over a few days, returning to a base camp each nite. (Barrington Tops trek comes to mind)
Some people however would not like to leave their van while some mug can come and help themself to a "free lunch". I however travel with a bit of security in a ridgebackX which won't let you near the van without the loss of an arm or leg hehehe.
If I can help in anyway don't hesitate to contact me through the MM option here.

Regards, Trevor.

I would love to help, but I'm not on the road enough with the caravan.

Although at the end of September the better half and I are going from Scone to Hay, then Kyalite, travel East a bit then up to Darling Pt then up North a bit then turn right and head back to Scone.
Hopefully an enjoyable trip, with plenty of fishing in the new Porta Bote.

Bob,

Plenty of good camping (bush camps) along the Bidgee out near Hay and Darlington Point. Have fun.

Funny you should mention river camping.

Frances and I are going to try camping along the rivers once we leave Hay. If we find any really good ones I'll post them.

We are not into tent camping these days so the spots have to be big enough for our 20' van.

Thanks for the info though it confirmed our thoughts that we should be able to find a few places.

Regards Bob
