Hi all,
I am looking for a
campsite around the Wubin/
Yalgoo area with these features:
1. To take a group of about 50 people in September/October.
2. No facilities required, just bare ground and a good view - We have our own setup.
3.
Water tank for showers, washing, on site would be ideal.
3. Low cost - Free out in the bush preferably (legally), but $5 per person per night would be OK.
4. Required as a base station for day trips, but an on site feature such as a mountain or minesite or
wildflowers, etc would be really good.
5. 2 Wheel drive accessible but still get the "outback feeling".
Re point 5: many will have 4wd but I don't want to limit the numbers for those that don't. I think quite a bit of that area is reasonably firm, and will not require 4WD to get in.

Hi there
We went through this area last September on the way to Mt Augustus and stayed at
Jokers Tunnel just out of
Yalgoo (Maybe 10-15kms) on the
Yalgoo Ningham Rd. There is a tunnel going through the side of the
hill you can walk through (dodge the bats!!). There were about 9 vehicles in our group and we were the only ones there. No
water but a large flat area for
camping and close enough to
Yalgoo if need be. The
Public toilets in
Yalgoo (not the roadhouse) were fantastic .... we were impressed! We all had 4wd, but you definitley didn't need it. Definite outback feeling. Worth a look even if you don't stay there. If you want anymore info or photos just email us hdprice@iprimus.com.au.
Regards
Diana and Howard

Give the friendly folk at ningham station itself, as they allow
camping on the station. I havent been there yet, but from all reports its a fantastic area. Im sorry I do not have the details, but I do know the western 4wder weekends out of
perth book has them in it.

Softrax,
Remember the ad about a million star view (NT)? Go to Ninghan Station. We went there about 2 years ago and it was great. You need to be totally self sufficient except for wood. The station people are very friendly and the boundry fences are the only restriction as to where you
camp. They will also advise on
places to visit.
Paynes Find is just up the road.
We are going back when we get our act together.
