I currently use a 40litre Engel in the back of my GU patrol and use a thermoelectric during the day to keep drinks cool and within reach during the day. Would love to dump the thermo-e (freeing up space and saving batteries- saps too much juice!) and instead make my centre console bin into a fridge- might use danfoss or Engel compressor- need advice on where to get compressors (maybe old 2nd hand fridge)- but most of all need help with getting a heat exchanger that will fit inside the console???!!! Wadda ya think?!

no such thing as 2nd hand danfoss compressor...fridges are only dumped when the compressor sheits its self...
as for new, expect to pay big bickies...try Heatcraft, for a price in your state...when you ring them make sure your sitting down if your an old bloke, cos the price is really going to kick that heart hard!!
even if you could get one at the right price, the installation cost is going to rob your bank account.....
i could do it for you if you really want...i dont charge much...
how fat is your wallet?...and what does your wife look like?....:))))))

Junior,
You could try a couple of ships' chandlers - I recall some time ago seeing a Danfoss kit, comprising a compressor, condensor and evaporator plate gassed ready for install into a boat's freezer box. Not cheap tho.

Some 60 series cruisers came with an ice-maker in the console. From memory these were an option in some saharas and were tapped into trhe aircon.
Might be worthy ringing a few wreckers.

I have seen the fridgeshop do them before, but all I could find on there this time was big marine units (170L+)
Might be worth a call to them...

GQ Ti patrol had an option for a drinks cooler in t he Glove box taped into the air-con air flow. But I have only ever seen it in the book.

I was about to become a member this week but not after the replys to a question a member asked. Why bother to get insulted on the
forum when you ask a question and expect an civil answer.
I notice the same people dominate
forum every day you can have it.

There are all sorts in this world, if you only want/expect nice answers perhaps internet forums are not for you. Personally I've always thought this
forum to be rather reserved but I read others where the residents take delight in cutting you to the bone at the slightest slip, just gotta ignore it to survive. Arhhh the big bad internet eh!
