Did the census form online....being old means I had an easy time of it as there are only two here.
And I only had to ask SWMBO who I was once :))
Just wondering how anyone travelling in remote areas will go.

They should end up getting a form if they are in arecognised
camp area, even roadside stops will get visitted.
I did the eCensus tonight and found it easier than doing the paper form. I do have braodband so I wonder how fast it would be on dial up.

wow....eCensus must have one of the quickest servers in AU together with some money thrown at a good setup. I filled out
mine today (adsl) and everything was virtually instantaneous, including page changes and saving/submitting.
Maybe someone should ask to throw EO on their servers after tonight ;-) First in, first serve i say.

Yeah, I'm one of their District managers looking after 13 shire councils for the Census, it's a big undertaking and they did assure us that the system was big enough to handle whatever load was placed on it.

Tried to log in 3 times - Error 920, tells me to call 1300 number.
Called 1300 number -
- Your call is important to us, then hung up
- Your call is important to us, then hung up
- Call answered, 2 minutes of recorded msg before option to report error, then "calls to this area are congested - please call back later"
They must be joking, I have better things to do with my time.

Mike, that's what happens when I ring any Govt Dpt or large business. Why would I expect this mob to be any different ?
BUT I must say I found the online experience painless.

Could just see the fruit fly guys asking if you've done your form yet. And the
Eucla plodders pulling sus vehicles over to make sure that they've completed a form.
Crikey, can you imagine pulling into
Well 33 and being told no form no fuel ?
Hmm...the way the Govt is regulating our existance that might not be so far away !

Hi Footie ,
I have to wait till my youngest boy gets home from work at 10.30 pm to find out if his girlfriend is staying the night and let her fill her section out if she is .
Luckily the software let me do all my family and saved it , so I can go in later and finish it .
How about a Census poem to celebrate the occasion !
Willie .

I used to hate the blasted form
But now a keyboard is the norm
Now who you are and where you live
S'Not all all the info that you'll give
We want to know
About your thing
Educated or a ding a ling
How many ladies in your house
Are you married
Or just a louse
And what exactly do you do
Idle rich or in the *oo
We need to know your dollars worth
For every business here on earth
Make sure you answer every one
And in no time the census's done.

I agree - it was a government site that actually worked! Quick and easy to complete.
Well done ABS and your programmers.
