I have a 2000 Mazda Bravo turbo diesel, its done very little 4x4 driving, done about 125000kms and seems that the clutch is slipping.Seems a bit early in its life for the amount of work its done.Has anybody else had a similar experience? Is there something I can get adjusted or is it a new clutch? Thanks

I average 1 roughly every 100.000k, I don't ride the clutch in any way but my pedal is virtually right at the top again and have a slight clutch shudder, I'm doing the high country in a couple of months so I might be up for a new one myself, and yet I've heard of people getting 200k plus out of a clutch. Myn's hydraulic and has the right amount of free play at the top of pedal, I presume yours is the same so I don't think there would be any adjustment only for free play unless it's cable then you might be able to adjust ?? Hi there strzelecki, what model do you have ?? myn is a LN106 2.8D, do you find your pedal towards the top or an inch from the bottom up, myn has always been a very high pedal, I have 287 on myn now, I dont ride the clutch in any way, I even sit at the lights with the vehicle in neutral till I'm about to take off, both clutches have been genuine toyota but next time I'm going to try a Daikin clutch heavy duty. Its a old 2.4 1985 dual cab.Pedal take up is roughly an inch from the bottom.Due to retire the old girl rust is becoming an issue, tailgate only just hanging on,plus slid into tree on the farm and a log thru the back window,so as from last week its now only a farm ute.Trying to decide on a relacement atm was hoping to hang off untill the new cruiser released but looks as if that may be too long a wait. A new hilux would be the most likely at this stage.I have a lc100 v8 as my road car and very happy with that.

i have never had to do a clutch job less than about 150000kms unless it has been has been abused in some way. EG DRIVER RIDING THE CLUTCH , NO FREE PLAY OR A REPLACEMENT CLUTCH INSTALLED WITH OUT MACHINING FLYWHEEL. I OFTEN RIDE IN THE CAR WHILE CUSTOMER DRIVES TO DROP OFF AND COLLECT CARS , YOU WOULD BE SUPRISED HOW MANY RIDE THE CLUTCH AND SAY THEY DONT. NEVER DONE A MAZDA BRAVO, BUT THE FREE PLAY ADJUSTMENT COULD BE AT THE PEDAL BOX OR THE CLUTCH END.

I have replaced a few in Mazda bravo's (petrol and diesel) and there is no adjustment, it is hydraulic and self adjusts. I replaced one at 80,000 in a 2.5 turbo when I overhauled a transmission for a customer.
