After all the good reports here, and also on the recommendation of the bloke at the
shop I bought the Max air unit. $260 5 year warranty.
Had been thinking ARB as I had two for years without any problems, but the max air eats it for performance.
I was surprised to be told that ARB now own Bushranger and therefore Max Air.
Makes you wonder if we will see the ARB compressor discontinued.
For airlocker use ARB now uses a much smaller unit instead.

Which maxair did you get? I paid $360 for their top of the range and the next one down was $139 and then $99 for the entry level model.
Im happy with the performance. I can get all 4 x 33 ich 10.5 BFG pumped from 17 psi to 34psi in under 14 minutes

Did you mount yours permanantly or do you use as a portable?

I couldnt really see the benefits of mounting it permanently and I dont like making holes in my landcruiser's floor.
I also like my engine bay free of clutter so it stays in the shed until the weekends in its nice bag;)

The Max-Air has all my tyres pumped from 12psi to 38psi in the time it takes my mates with their arb's and alike to pump up 2 tyres....

ditto - but it was the five year warranty that sealed the deal - I did have a cheapy (HD cheapy mind you ;-), but after 12 months it would only pump to 18psi

I've had a "real" Maxair for almost 4 years now. Permanently mounted, wired and plumbed up to 2 tanks. Until I recently bought my Feroza, I used to drive the Patrol every day and used the maxair daily to top-up the pressure for using air horns when needed (rarely), as
well as diff lock (rarely too).
A couple of months ago I bought a cheaper ($165-) copy of the maxair and I've mounted it beside the real maxair in the cargo area and coupled the 2 together. It has been going just as good as the Maxair,.....so far so good.

Roachie, I bet if you hooked them up to seperate tyres they would not be the same.
I have a Maxair copy and a good mate has the real thing. He can pump up 4 tyres, pack up, get out a folding chair and drink a beer while I've still got two tyres to go. we usually run the same tyre pressures.

This difference between the real and the copy has come up a bit.
Does anyone know what the actual difference is?
The story you get, is they come out of the same factory blah blah blah.

MaxAir - the best unit I've used, by far. Totally reliable after three years of flogging:
