On the new inventors there is another flat boat similar to the portabote. It looks better than the portabote and is an aussie design.

Hey where is that guy who built his own flat boat out of aluminium?? Please tell us how you made it.

Norton Antivirus threw up a "security breach blocked" or some such message when I accessed that site - now the site appears to be down...

Impressive. More parts than a Portabote and probably a bit more time to put together, but looks a better design and much stronger on the
water.
I went crabbing a couple of times at Bullock
Creek in
Darwin in a Portabote (with I guy I met at the CP). I was surprised how good it performed and this one looks even better.
Still not sure that I would like to go barra fishing in saltie territory in one for too long.

I think it looks a little more sturdy than the portabote, probably worth looking at.
But I think the New Inventors is loosing the plot a bit, there was (in my opinion) only one real "invention" and that was the builders hurdle. The boat and the shopping trolley are obviously though the R&D stage and are only looking for market outlets.
Sort of makes it hard for the backyard inventor to get on the show.
Just my opinion !

I agree that these products are only looking to flog more, but they are aussie invented, the boat more to my interest. But as for the show loosing the plot, I would have thought the problem they could be running into is quality inventions. You see the mini inventions during the breaks and they are crappy but still aired, they cant use these as a main invention. Also a comment from one guy something like, he put it together and 2 weeks later here he is. So they could have rushed his invention on air because it was better than their other choices.

Hi Phantom,
Its just that years ago when the show first started they used to give the up and coming (mini) inventors advice on all sorts of stuff about R&D, patents and general tips on making it better. And even if it came in different colours.
Now there seems to be more advanced type inventions. I still like the show!
Hey Duncs,
its taken on a mates property near
Goulburn. I think the
ruins are part of an old lime quarry.

The folding boat design goes back to the 1930s so it's hardly a new invention, still it looks good, more rigid than a portaboat but a bit slower to assemble

You would want to really need that sort of compactness I think to want to go through that assembly process, grab a cold beer or Jimmie and sit down with a mate or 2 and she would be a beauty. Pack up time I reckon would be the issue, getting everything back in that bag neatly after a tiring weekend. I love the concept , for me I have big boat and we use a dinghy however we would love something more like a tinnie like this to take with us as the dinghy is small and cumbersome.

$3750 i think the fella quoted as the current price. guess that's pretty good for the package but motor's of course are not that cheap. if you just want a trolling motor then you go an inflatable or more power then a second hand zodiac perhaps? good to see a boatie idea but i think my vote in the context of the show (i did not see the first item) goes to the tie line fella.
flatout v porta? smaller package(s) for the flatout but that's all i know.
