Just Talking with my Brother who knows a few fords Nut’s around the place
And allegedly the new F250 will be a 6.4Ltre twin turbo V8 diesel Boasting
260Kw
880Nm
Now if it’s true that isn’t a bad figure now is it.
Will certainly leave some Doof, Doof car drivers scratching their heads when an F truck beats em off the lights. LOL

well they are playing catch up ..
their competition is there since almost two years
and now we have to see what they actually bring here ....
also the milage will be interesting ..
GM is using the Duramax 6.6 with 360hp 265Kw and 652lb/ft at 1600 rpm
since 2004 called the LBZ engine .. the LBY had 350hp and was used eaven earlier
Ford is late to the party ...

If you tried a snatch you might end up as a hood ornament

Saw one of those F250's trying to get dragged out on
stockton beach about a month ago, he went flying past us while I was letting tyres down he had a rooster tail of sand like an outboard motor from his rear
wheels as he went whistling past me didnt stop to let his tryes down probably thought he had the grunt, along I come in the lux first
sand dune was bogged up to his running boards, 3 hours later on my way back after cruising up and down
the beach,BBQ at the ship wreck here he was 3 nissan patrols all connected with snatch straps trying to get this bloke out, I watched for about 10 mins and then left I think they has some serious digging to do. Regards Steve M

Stephen, sort of highlights the mentality of the people who would buy one of those. The only thing they're good for is impressing your mates and towing large loads. Serious liability in a 4wd scenario.

Scooter, the "serious liability in a 4wd scenario" is the "driver" not the vehicle

Scooter13,
I have been out with one of these serious liabilities (as you call them) and it did not disappoint. Done most what we done in GU Patrols and surprised the owner a little even, I think??
Nothing wrong with the mental prowess of this F series owner, in fact he also owns a Suzuki X90 so you can't always judge a book by it's cover. As snow said it's the driver that is the liability, not the 4by.
Cheers, Trevor.

Theres only 2 nuts to worry about scooter,
the nut behind the wheel and
the nut behind the keyboard, clearly your inflamatory comments segregate you to the latter

Axle
Sorry you question thro me a bit
They are 4WD?, Thou in stock form not that good due to the wheel base and overall size of the thing, but nothing a 4-inch lift and some 34’s wouldn’t fix.LOL
GMD
If Ford are playing catch up then what are Toyota and Nissan doing LOL

I think it is because the 7.3 is out of stock I.E not being made anymore, the U.S hasn’t used the 7.3 for some time, they instead had a 6 litre I think, that was a POS engine and had many problems
The 7.3 stockpiles were just burnt off to export markets like Australia, like the 5.0Ltr Windsor engines the U.S stoped using them long before Ford Aus did.
Once the new engine is out we will be getting it
That’s my understanding anyway, might be wrong.

Exploder,
you are right ..
Ford is about to introduce the new series. The old engine did not have compliance anymore with the new emission standars. They closed the factory in Brasil where the right hand drives were made and sold off what they had .. F250's came down in price a bit now .. the new one is due end of the year as far as I was told .. The new one is supposedly a left hand drive with a factory conversion again ... but that might have changed now. Many cars here have the narrower leg room on the driver side and thats because of the conversion and not being originally built as a right hand drive. I had done a bit of research when I wanted something like a F350 but had no chance to get one .. and I was not too keen on the chassis version anyway .. I guess the F250 is too big for the load it can carry and only a dual wheel is a justification for that size but Ford did not have a decent trim level for the duallys...will be interesting if they have in the future, but I doubt it ..

The F250 is not your purists 4x4, however it is a great vehicle when you need size comfort, towing capacity etc. That's when they come into their own. With 880NM of torque I suspect fuel economy will be improved dramatically, we have already seen a hint of 9L/100KM for the new Twin Turbo V8 Diesel Cruiser (Claimed, Rumoured) so the new F250 could also achieve improvements in efficiencies and power.
When it comes to traffic light drags we'll leave that to the boy racers..! LOL

Terra Firma,
Haven't logged on for awhile...but interested in your comments about the new L/Cruiser. It is starting to get more coverage I know but haven't read anything about the detail you have said is 'rumoured'. ie; the fuel economy @ 9l/100. That sounds sensationl. Has there been some recent discussion on this site?? I'm not in the market for another year, (overseas holidaying in retirement...yippee!!) then back here and into '
Grey Nomading' and I'm hoping the 130 series is released complete with the 4.4 BT diesel, at a reasonable price. ( I expect it will be close to $80K OTR). What more do you know??
Don
