the guy is pi$$ing into the wind trying to count the cost of the accessories and adding that to his idea of value. Yeh, it's only just run in but it's too much. Take Erics post below about Truckster's GU as gospel

and hopefully it is here

Turbo upgrades - either upgraded turbo, different wheel, etc or total different turbo setup like a Denco or DTS kit.. its pretty common.

The accessories shouldnt make that much difference - unless your happy to pay for them.

its fucin expensive setting up a new truck again with new bits, and prices... everything starts at $1000.00 as Im finding out.. so if your happy with it, then go with it.

Ok, lets look at it this way.

2001 patrols are going for mid $20k's...
Turbo upgrade and Icooler are $6k to get done at least.
Exhaust $600
Bullbar would have come with the car
Winch $600
Lights - depends on which ones but probasbly came with the car
uhf Say $300
cargo barrier sold my one for $200
draw system $1400ish depending on brand.
new shocks $130ea
new bfg at's $240ea
second set of bfg muddies usually sell for $900 a set used if at 80% or better.
scrub bars $stupid price frmo ARB something like $700
side steps come with bars.
rear bar and jerry can holder $3000
arb locker + comp $1400+
---------------------------------------
You could buy a later model without accessories for that price.. then spend anotehr $20k if you have it layin round to get there..

I dont think its too bad. offer him $32k

PJD,

I agree with Truckster, providing that the accessories fitted are the accessories you would get.
At the end of the day you will be paying for them anyway, so if you get a cheaper one but bare you need to add the cost of accessories.
I am finding out also that accessories are getting more and more expensive, what cost me about 12k extra when I setup mine in '99 is going to cost me about 17k now if I get a new one.
The thing is that you need to be happy with the accessories fitted to the vehicle otherwise is not worth it if you are going to remove them and install what you want.
ie: in my case an alloy bullbar is worth zilch because I would be throwing it out and fitting a proper steel winch bar. On the other hand if the car I am looking at has a nice ARB bar I take it into account because I would be fitting one anyway so the cost would be there one way or the other.

I don't think that price is too bad taking into account the above.

It sounds like the accessories are being used to justify the price, the problem with this is that the vehicle as been modded and also sounds like it has done some work off road. Because of the turbo upgrade you'd want to be happy with the health of the engine. I've seen plenty of rigs with the works going for less, so not sure on this one. Go with your gut feeling, if you need to ask, then perhaps there's the answer.!

Exactly what I was thinking. It's not the age or miles on the clock, it's things he's done with it while 4WDriving that could cost you money down the track if it's been abused.

So its done some offroad work, doesnt really mean much does it? Usually means they have been maintained better than one that goes nowhere but the shops. We all know you cant afford not to maintain a car that does offroad work as if it lunches itself in middle of nowhere, your fubar.

Turbo upgrade, pretty common mod these days on most 4b's as from factory they are lame and well and truly within 'safe' limits..

A 4wd has a few mods and accessories means or its done some offroad work doesnt mean its no good, have a look in the trader section here.. that would mean every car on this board is.......

PS. any car is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay.

Hey Truckster, We haven't seen the rig so we can only make some possible assesments. A rig that does plenty of offroad work does suffer more stress than a vehicle that doesn't , doesn't matter who services it. So it's fair to ask that question of the vehicle, hey we're only guessing once again. Why do we see so many ads for vehicles that say "NEVER BEEN OFFROAD"..?

But it could be a case of the opposite where the vehicle has had plenty spent on it and hasn't done much work, so it could be good value. I think most people thought the price was a little high, and these are fair questions to ask before considering a vehicle for purchase. When it comes to modifications lets be realistic, some can lead to more problems, ask anyone whose ever chased more horses. Not saying it's the case here, but once again a fair question.

FUBAR (Thanks for going easy on us Truckster)

FUBAR is an acronym that originated in the military to stand for the words "f***ed up beyond all repair." This is often softened to "fouled up beyond all repair" in reference to hardware. The programming and documentation equivalent is "fouled up beyond all recognition." Sometimes the last word is "recovery" or "reconciliation" or "reason."
