brian,
No it won't.
What you need is a LSD out of the early navara, goes straight in.

Yep,
99% of Patrol owners who want enhanced traction, fit a front locker (air locker, lokka or whatever) and keep the rear LSD.....it's simply the best.

Guys help me here .. I do not understand something ..
first.. why is a limited slip in the back so great on the Nissan ?
Limited slip usually has a ratio of only up to 40% traction
where auto lock diffs have up to equal power 50:50 on both
wheels ..
limited slip has the advantage that you can still steer the axle which is
more desirable in the front than the rear .. so I understand the question
of the original poster to fit one in the front. Limited slip in the rear is just
a consumer/road feature for slippery conditions and not necessarily that great
in off road situations where you want the power locked whatever it takes ..
I am not familiar with the Nissan .. does it also have a lock state ?
I was always wondering why 4WD do not come standard with a limited slip
in the front and an auto lock in the back ... that would be all we needed in 95%
of the situations I guess ... am I missing something ?

right on!!!
i could not agree more!!!
the lsd in the nissan seems to be better than a lot of the others but like your good self i can not understand why the HELL it is not also in the front axel as
well, especially whith a part time 4wd system.
This then over comes the steering probs of auto "lokkas" and not the need for air lokkas then u could just fit a detroit lokka to the rear and have a very very capable off road vehicle.

Brian,
I will go with Brew69 and Roachie on this. the best reason I have heard of for replacing the LSD in the rear of a Patrol was a mate of
mine who did it to reduce tyre ware.
He replaced it with an ARB air locker and claimed improved tyre life on the rear. If you put the drivers window down next time you are doing an u turn on the bitumen you will understand what he was on about.
Apart from that put an ARB dif lock in the front and you will be a happy boy.
