Hi there,
I have myself a new 06 petrol sr5, great vehicle, I turned it into a city type truck and got the leather option, just makes it a little different.
But i have one annoying issue with the noise of the engine under 3/4 throttle, it sounds almost like an exhaust manifold leak. Under full throttle the engine has a great note, nice intake sound.
Has anyone else got a 4.0 V6 that has the same sounds, or this normal? The car has only done 3000kms,
Cheers.

No pics of your ride..?? I doubt you have a problem, if so you have approx 3 years of warranty left, so no rush back to the dealer, take it in and they'll give you a loan car. I have the current model SR5 diesel, awesome vehicle, so smooth and grunty.
Get some pics of your ride happening ...

Lux06, I do believe that you are experiencing the exhaust manifold noise as described in Site Link
In Australia there is no solution that I am aware of yet however this has been addressed on the 4.0L in the US market (albeit in a different vehicle).
My guess is that the exhaust manifold is constructed the way it is to enhance the cat light up time so that the engine passes the relevant cold start exhaust emission tests.

GC,
Thanks, that's the exhaust noise i was talking about and i'm guessing Toyota dealers won't admidt to any wrong doing with this issue from what you said.
It also appears there isn't much in the way of extractors on the market to get over the issue. I've got a mate in Toyota engineering, hopefully i can get a few answers from him.
Cheers

Thats interesting, the site link tells the story, the other solution that might help would be to have the manifold high performance coated , both inside and out, the ceramic coating might help tone things down when it comes to resonating.
it would deal with the heat better and be an overall improvement, without effecting anything else.
