Hi All, anyone know if the Old Karunjie Road - in the
Kimberley - is currently open. Planning to drive it in a few weeks. Any info would be appreciated.

Gday Patrick
I met a family at Home Valley a couple of days ago who had just travelled the road from
Wyndham with a fairly hefty camper in tow behind a Pajero, so I'd gather its all good. We did a day trip along it last year, quite a scenic drive, few good
camping and fishing spots along the way.
Feel free to contact me when you come up...
Cheers Andrew

Thanks Andrew, sounds great. We'll be in
Kununurra around the 5th, 6th and 7th of next month - spending 3 weeks in the
Kimberley before heading back to Melb via the Tanami.Cheers.

Yep...Did it about 2 weeks ago.
We did the GRR end along the Penticost and into
Wyndham. Great 4 x 4 trip with a bit of everything except no
water crossings.
Took about two hours to do the 1st half then an hour for the rest. Saw a few BIG crocs in the river. I hear the Barra fishing is good this year.
It's a great day trip. Go to the Five Rivers
lookout in
Wyndham if you've never been.

Thanks for that; we're going to
camp overnight at Diggers Rest station - so it should be a great drive. And I'm liking the sound of 'good fishing this year'! Cheers

Hi Patrick.
I did much the same trip as you last year and agree with the others about it being a good trip.
We went from Kunnunarra over the
Ivanhoe Crossing and followed the Ord up to
Wyndham via Parrys
Creek reserve. Really nice beside the Ord for a stay or lunch.
We were warned off using the road as it was described as "rough" but found it OK right through to Diggers Rest and the following section down to the Pentecost was very scenic.
Stay overnight at Home Valley and I'm sure the wife will love the frogs watching her shower and put her lipstick on!
Have a good trip.
Alan.

Thanks Alan, that's precisely the route we're planning. Thanks for
the tip about the frogs...SWMBO will love that I'm sure!
