my wife and i are looking at buying a landcruiser late 80 or early 100 series. could somebody let us know of the kwatts and torque for theses models. we are also thinking of adding a unichip and lpg
tank to get better fuel economy and power, are there any problems that we should be aware of or look out for? thanks

These engines are good and many motoring jounos believe the V8 which replaced them was a disapointment.
The 1FZFE is rumoured to have descended from a 4cyl Toyota racing motor.
Of course being petrol they are expensive to run but operate extremely
well on gas.
If they have been serviced they will last 400000 klms or more.
This link will give all Kw and torque for all landcruiser engines

A good site for specs on a heap of cars is Red Book plus gives you a bit of an idea as far as prices go. I do stress, a BIT of an idea but... ;-)

Oh, and another tip - don't pay too much for one - people are almost giving them away at the moment. Me? I wouldn't part with my 80, but for some they don't have a choice, the petrol they drink is sending people broke!
Cheers

Hi Adven
I am very happy with my 100 series. 4500L GXL
It is thirsty but has heaps of power.
Expect 5Km/L
LPG could save you money in the long run but LPG is not available in some way out
places.
Regards Derek.

That quoted power firgure would be at the engine.
At the
wheels for a full time 4WD N/A petrol I got 81Kw on a dyno- cant remember the torque.
I would recommend a wolf ECU as they can be mapped for fuel and gas, and dont need to find a compromise in between. With the gas, just make sure you keep the valve lube topped up. If getting one that is already gas converted, make sure the owner ran it on petrol now and then to keep the seals in good condition. There are also some dual fuel kits that always start up on petrol then switch to gas at a certain rev range that save you that hassle.

Would love to mate but its the old man's birthday sun night and I have to fly back out on the 28th. I get down there 24th.
I have been meaning to catch up with you and coops for a while now- Might try for a day trip or overnighter around then- It has to be pretty close to
perth though as I only have 300km range out of my
tank with the turbo on.
