Can anyone suggest a configuration for fuel tanks to maximise travel distance.
I currently have petrol 96 litre main
tank and a 45 litre sub
tank. I am looking for suggestions of a suitable configuration of LPG/Petrol so as to keep the fuel range about the same. Of course the more LPG the cheaper it is to run. The current fuel prices are really starting to bite.
I want to mount the
tank externally.

My folks have just booked in their 100 series for 2x36l tanks, in addition to the main and sub
tank.
I have an 80 series, with a 90l gas
tank replacing the sub
tank and spare tyre, which is not on the rear of the car.

That should be "now on the rear of the car" instead of "not on the rear of the car"!

Hi there Scottywiper,Refering to your 80 series, does yours have an issue with the gas
tank being down too low. My mate's
tank hangs
well below what the spare use too even with a 2 inch lift in it now still has problems with the
tank scraping on most things. He too has now mounted the spare on the rear bumper. His
tank doesnt even have a guard below it which to me seems dangerous and I would have thought this would be against the law but apparently not as long as its a certain distance between the
tank and the ground. He has had all sorts of trouble running the gas have you had any dramas, his is even blowing blue smoke since it was fitted over 12 months ago. His starts automatically on petrol then it flicks over to gas. Regards Steve M

I bought it 12 months ago, and the installation was about four years old.
I have had no issues with power, smoke, etc.
I start it on gas without problems usually. However, on really cold mornings it definitely runs smoother for the first couple of minutes starting with fuel. I usually run it with fuel for a short period and then switch to gas on those occasions.
I had the lift done when I bought the car and now have plenty of clearance, with the tanks having a guard underneath. Have not had any problems with hitting anything with it (so far).
Gas is a no-brainer around the city, if you do mainly city driving and a bit of country, it is a great idea.
Savings diminish once you head bush, but they are still there.
