Hi Troop-a-dour,
Don't actually have any navigation software...still on my wish list :-).....was just after some fairly detailed maps in PDF format or similar that I can use like a road atlas.

You can create your own PDF's in any scale and with any features for Vic at least by working with the link below.
Use it a bit here for those out of the way

pdf however is not so useful with navigation software.

Truckie,
Sorry, meant to get back to you sooner re these maps. They're the NSW Topo 1:25k and 1:100k maps mentioned by Mike DID below. They were originally produced by the Dept of Lands and calibrated etc for OziExplorer by Festy on the www.gpsaustralia.net
forum.
I've checked with Festy and Craigus of GPSAustralia and OK by them so long as no money etc changes hands and Festy and GPSAustralia are acknowledged. I'm still checking to make sure I have the latest updates, which I'd do anyway for my own purposes. Let me know if you still want a DVD (they're around 2.5gig in total).

Australian Geoscience has the 1:250,000 topo series available for free down load at www.ga.gov.au/products Just click on the products link, then free downloads.
They are the same as the ones on the NATMAP Raster 2005 DVD. They may also have smaller scale ones available.
Cheers

Hello - if the file is in ecw format you can use ERviewer
Site Link
...you may also be able to import them into the "free" unregistered version of OziExplorer (but not sure ...I have registered version which does it)
www.oziexplorer.com
Cheers

25,000 scale Topo maps of NSW are available for free download from the Govt website or www.gpsaustralia.net. You can also get the calibration file for OziExplorer.

Mike,
I went through the process of updating the maps (some had problems) and the calibration files a week or so ago so I suppose I've now got them. Would have to doublecheck with GpsAust site but should'nt take long to incorporate the changes mif I understand them correctly :))))))

phillowe, Raster 50,000 only go as far as 64 km's north of Pt Augusta which is the Hesso(63331) or
Eyre seamless. Hema great desert tracks SE start from
Port pirie and finish just past the SA/NT border, then continues as N/E maps. All you really need is the 250,000 or Tracks 4
Australia if your running Garmin.
Give me your email and I could get some topo maps for the Garmin.
