I have just had my 100 series serviced and they tell me I have a chip in the headlamp and need it replaced. Toyota's cost is $870. Surely there must be a cheaper alternative available.
Does anyone have any knowledge or ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Insurance? Might be worth a try providing you don't have a high excess.

Hi Peter,
CLICK HERE and you will be taken to Landcruiser Mart in
Brisbane. They sell new parts in both genuine and non genuine and second hand also. When my son has needed parts for his 40 series they have at times been able to help us out at reasonable prices. I think they will send goods interstate also.
Might be worth a look. Anyhting has to be better than $870.00.

get some Scotch Guard Film
and put it over your headlights
b4 they chip and cover the chipped one
or take some two component glue and fill
the hole .. I have been driving my Merc
with a hole in the headlight for the last 6 years
I don't go diving with it though :)) ... its a tiny hole
and really not worth spending big bucks
The stealerships know how to get to your money :)) ..

And then spend about $40 on a set of aftermarket headlight protectors!

Why ?
the Scotchguard is the best headlight protector ..
you don't need anything else ... Just ordered
a full surface treatment for my new truck ...
I have the film put on both sides, tailgate and front of
bonnet as
well as around the roof ... also on the lights...

I drove my
Tarago for 8 years with a headlight chip filled with a small dob of silicone (the modern male's binder twine replacement).
Worked for me.
