I was there in late May. A place not to be missed.

The road was nowhere near as bad as I had been led to believe. But it is all a matter of perception and expectation. We came across others in the park who couldn't believe how bad the road was and wished they hadn't come!!!

In May there were a couple of water crossings (but I suspect it is all dry now). It is a slow road. Lots of switch backs and large rocks in the road, but you will be going slow enough to see and avoid them. Allow 2.5 to 3 hours from memory.

Take your time and there is no problem. It was much better than a lot of other roads we travelled on our recent trip.

we were there in June, it is slow due to tight bends and a few creek crossings, but was not rough by any means.

We were in there last week. Track was not too bad though some of the creek crossings were a touch deep and alson a bit rough getting out on the other side. Other than that a very memorable two days. We also flew over it yesterday from Kununurra - again wellworth it.

We were there late June, track in was slow but not bad still allow close on 2 hours for the trip. If you have a dune flag use it. There are a number of blind bends ontop of sharp crests. We copped a couple of cars right on top of these crests. Water crossings - there were a couple the deepest was about 300mm and with a sand bottom. Watch out for moo cows they have a mind of there own.
TIP. get there early and set up camp immediately as it's getting busy in there. We stayed at the Walardi campground and come 3pm it was full.
The campsites have camp hosts who will supply ample fire wood. Also there are good clean dunnies and the tables and benches were cleaned on a daily basis.

Have fun the gorges are really good and be prepared to walk and walk and walk.

Cheers
