Does anyone have any knowledge of, or experience with Hoppecke batteries? (Yes, I've tried the archives back a couple of years). I'm wanting to fit a third battery in the engine bay of my LC 100 TD and they are a squat battery with recessed terminal posts which will make it easier to fit. Apparently they are German made and are fitted to Mercs and Beamers etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

They may satisfy your requirements. I'm looking at two of them (12v800) with isolator in a Kia Sportage. Be warned, NOT CHEAP, about $250-300 each, $420 for the biggest one, but definitely "Kick a**" power!
