G/Day All,after looking at trailers on &off for 2yrs I am about to buy a trackabout safari, has anyone got the new stainless steel kitchen, it looks better in my opinion than the drifta, is it worth spending the extra dollars for, must also say other half likes it better also, thanking you in advance.

We just went away in our new preloved Cavalier which has a drifta kitchen for the first time. While at Lightening Ridge we saw a Kimberley Kamper with a stainless steel kitchen and was I very envious at first. Then on reflection I decided that it would depend on how much you cooked, how messy you are and how often and long you go away for to balance up the 5 times greater cost. But it mostly pays to pander to the other half when possible ROFL SWMBO

Mate - mate - mate!!!!

Forget the s/s kitchen - the Drifta is a rippa!

I've got a T/A Safari with the drifta and you could not wish for more. Sure it doesn't shine but who givsa anyway. And anyway wot you save on the kitchen can buy more beer or whatever you want - maybe even a WAECO........tsk tsk..

It is very functional and if you decide to add bits it's a breeze...
As Carolyn said it would be ok if SWMBO decided but for pure functionality the Drifta....

Grrr!!!

Have got the drifta on our Trackabout used every day last year on a 4 month trip to WA. Plus other trips to Fraser.Worked a treat. Adding the extra drawer which I got from Drifta made it even better.
I carried in top drawer all cutlery sharp knife gas lighter tongs cooking spoons, level for setting up spare keys for trailer .
Second drawer plates for 8people, desert /breakfast plates. A couple of enamel plates for putting hot food on when cooking. In the corners I kept in each corner 4 glass scotch glasses. Which haven't broken on any trip we have had it on.
3rd area down kept a spare plastic bowel from drifta which I kept in an original cardboard box 4 ceramic coffee cups and 2 wine glasses.
In the bowl for washing up I kept all that type of gear from clothes detergent, washing up detergent, clothes lines, pegs. Under this I kept 2 non stick fry pans sitting in each other with the non slip matting between the two plus the toaster and 2 cutting boards.
The other space was reserved for 3 stainless steel billys which fit in each other and then fit in a black enamel fire pot which can be used on fire or stove - always kept in plastic to stop fire black on enerything, a stainless steel pot with steamer. Plus the grater.
We put the non stick matting on every shelf .
We had very if any dirt enter the area once the shelf fitted on the front.
Once opened out space to work on and prepare so you dont have to have a table if you dont want.
So I fully endorse the drifta.

Glad to read your post, I was a bit scared to say I kept the plates in a drawer LOL. I put much the same things in the bowl, just seemed a logical place to me. Sparky put an extra drawer in for me and underneath all this is just the right size for alfoil, clingwrap, lockseal bags etc and I just love being able to find them so quickly.

Have got a KK and the kitchen is stainless but it doesn't matter what surface you have as long as it does the job and is funtional. But having said that, depending on price ( as always ) stainless is better, water doesn't affect it and most importantly the missus usually likes it better ( and isn't that why you get out into bush in the 1st place )

HI Friar,

All i can say is to pick the one that seals the best to keep the dust/bugs out. You or the better half will not want to keep washing everything before you can use it. We have a koala camper with a timber kitchen. It is great, however the doors and drawers all seal well so when we are set up in camp everything is out of the way and not dusty.
