Looked at a Patrol 4.2 st turbo cab chassis 2003 with 160k klms seems to be mostly rural highway
miles. Is the hi klms a major prob here? Asking around $32k ,and a newy is around $46k
Red book says $30-35k with 45-75k klms.......so any idea on a value with those extra klms...............or should I just forget about it?

Main thing is service history. The km's are pretty high so a 3 year old vehicle but overall 160k isn't much for a diesel. Just make sure it's had all the
services it should have had. I find that Redbook values are sometimes not accurate. What else is currently for sale and for what price should give you an indication of the current worth.

Definately wouldn't pay that much for those high (for age) km's. Yes there would be nothing wrong with the engine cause that is low kms for a looked after diesel but you need to think about the resale value when you go to sell it. If you put 100K kms on it over 5 years it will be worth stuff all. Definately knock them down on price. I recently bought a 2001 100 series with 252000km for $18K - no one wanted to touch it because of the high kms.
Definately check service history - I've seen country vehicles with high kms but low age that look like they have the original oil in them...all sludge. Need to find out the vehicles background to make a judgement call on how
well its been looked after.
Good luck.

Hi there strzelecki, totally agree with Hughesy on this one. High klms for its age is ok providing the price matches. I have seen many with high klms (I'm not just talking patrols here any 4wd) and have been
well serviced with a proven eg reciepts, stamped log books bye the mechanic, and will go in the patrols case another 400,000k, but then I have seen some for sale eg 2004 hilux sr5 with 40k on it the vehicle was in fantastic condition but oil was like tar, never had a service after the 1000k service 39.000k with out an oil change. Take your time and check out all the web sites eg, trading post, car sales, car point, drive, etc and compare prices and klms will give you a fair idea, red book to me isnt accurate enough to follow, klms, condition, age, xtras all come into consideration. Regards Steve M
