I think the Oil dilution by fuel is a bad thing, but only really effects cars that do a lot of short trips and rarely get up to full operating temperature. The poor little 2.8 has copped a fair (unfair) ammount of criticism over the years. IMO, it does the job quite
well, although If I mooved back to the east coast where there are hills etc I might change my tune. Although I would much rather the 4.2, I don't know if I would like the 3.0.
Mine had no trouble towing a 2 tonne ski boat around, and now only has about a tonne or so to deal with my centre console, which it does with ease. Only problems I'd check on, and there are a couple of others that rectified this on this site, is trouble starting when hot.
mine does it occasionally, and aparently there is a spacer of some sort that goes in the injector pump.
Mine does it occasionally, but it has almost disappeared since fitting a dual battery system. (a lot more avail CCA most of the time).
Aparently fitting an electric lift pump helps with this, and helps prolong the life of the injection pump as
well. I don't know how accurate this is, but I bought 1 anyway and will be fitting it along with a CAV type filter this week. Aparently the additional lift pump is important if you fit and extra filter.
Good luck with the vehicle.
Cheers Andrew
