We're just back yesterday from our 5 week trip to Cape York. Had a great trip just sorry that work calls tomorrow.

Some highlights were some great riverside camps, Loyalty Bay near Seisia, our early morning walk to the Tip when we saw turtles and a dolphin swim by, swimming at Elliott Falls, tour to Thursday and Horn Islands and the OTL creek crossings with the Ultimate!

Lowlights were the guy in Cooktown Caravan Park who objected to me topping up the camper with water as I was leaving after having used our water during the two day stay and the aweful pile of rubbish behind the campsite at Gunshot Creek.

A special thanks to Rod Stewart (right) from Stewarts 4wd parts in Townsville for fitting the new draglink to the Patrol after I ignored a large post ion a picnic area.

The new Goodyear MTRs have now done over 10,000 and have been great. Very pleased.

Good luck dragging yourself out of bed to go to work after a trip like that.

Hi Peter,

We're not long back either - had an absolute blast and look forward to doing it again in a few years.

You'll find some familiar photo's in our Trip Report Site Link

Thanks Ivan,

Yes I saw your trip report last week. Haven't had time to collate pics yet. The video of coming down through Cockatoo with the Ultimate is interesting! Did you see the rubbish behind the campsite at Gunshot?

Not having done the Gunshot area, though wanting to go sometime, i cannot believe the amount of rubbish thrown out there! WHY doesn't someone do something about it instead of just drive by. Don't we want to set a good example for others?

Not rubbishing (no pun intended) you at all Peter, just dissapointed that "more than one" person has intentionally thrown out their rubbish like this. :-(

Hi Peter,

We didn't see the rubbish - whether it has happened since we were there, or it's a bit further afield than we were looking... Absolutely disgusting though - amazing what pigs we share this country with...

Andrew

Agree 100%. I thought we might start an Exploroz campaign to clean it up. You only see this area if you go for a wander behind the camp area just up from the creek crossing. We did our bit and of course left a spotless camp area. Amazing though isn't it that folk who enjoy the bush lifestyle will leave their mark like this.
