Drew

I recognise a lot of the plants, but don't know their names. However I think the first one use to be called a black boy, but now is called native grass (I think I'm right).

The one name I am sure of is mine, 'GREEN WITH ENVY'.

You must have had a great trip!

Regards Bob

Is No 5 an Eromophilia of some sort. Saw hundreds of them and took photo's nut can't remember what it is.

My reference book is Wildflowers of Southern Western Australia but at a quick look through, I couldn't find it.

The Grass Tree is also know as a Black Gin. Botanical family name Xanthorrhoea

Kings Park & Botanic Garden ran a botanical expedition along the CSR last year. The botanist on that trip had a crack at naming the plants based on the photos supplied. See below:

1. Xanthorrhoea thorntonii
2. Grevillea eriostachya (Flame Grevileea)
3. Grevillea wickhamii (Wickham's Grevillea)
4. Calytrix exstipluata (Kimberley Heather)
5. Aluta maisonneuvei (used to be Thryptomene maisonneuvei)
6. Ptilotus axillaris (Mat Mulla Mulla)
7. Dunno, can't tell from the picture. Could be a cassia I suppose
8. Allocasuarina decaisneana (Desert Oak)
9. Grevillea wickhamii
10. Eucalyptus pachyphylla (Thick leaved mallee) - I think - ie, this is my best guess (not grandifolia, as this is a NE Kimberley species, around Kunnunurra way)
11. Ptilotus marduguru
12. Corymbia, but as to which species, hard to say. One of the Desert Bloodwoods (possibly Corymbia termanalis)

thanks Moons. I found some books in Angus & Robertson but most of them have close-up pictures of the actual flower & its hard to compare with photos of a whole bush!!
