Hi Guys, what kind of mileage are you getting out of your tyres?
Please share any information on your experience with different brands?
Any information about the above sizes appreciated?
Which ones you prefer and why?
What mileage did you get with them?
Note: Needless to say a lot depends on way of driving, but the average life on car tyres is about 60 000km, while on trucks it is 150 000km?

average rolling circumference of a car tyre is ... and a truck tyre is ...
typical compounds used in car tyres is ... and truck tyres is ...
you drive your truck like you drive your car, or do you want your car to handle like a truck?
This question is extremely dependent on what you do and where you take your vehicle - how fast your drive, what inflation you use and how
well you monitor it, how frequently you rotate them, what sort of roads or tracks you travel on, what loaded weights you carry etc.
What do you wish to know about the sizes above?
I prefer Cooper STTs for my truck and what I do, but they probably won't suit you.
I don't know what mileage I will get, but my ATs were taken off at 72ks and still have 10ks or so left in them.

Oh, if I haven't made it clear, I apologise, I always get the correct pressure and rotation....
On off road ration is 50/50.
Average speed between 75k/h to 110k/h ... Does that sound average enough for you?
Average load 2 people plus 500kg of gear.
No trailer.
Have you had experience with the 750/16?

Hi Andrew, still waiting on your reply,
After all the questions, a preaching of no such thing as average, a very common word in the English language.... your feedback is missing?

um - what more did you want to know?
I am good for LT285/75R16 (previous R15 was mistake) on my much heavier HZJ105R (usually travelling 3200-3500 kg) with paranoid approach to inflation with Cooper ATs (old ATs not ATRs) to 80,000km approx - I've not had the STTs for long enough to know.
I am a careful driver, but do a big mix with about 50% dirt/50% highway including significant hard work (High Country; Nullarbor etc.) - not very average compare to most folks.
Usually truck compounds are much harder, the tyres larger, the tread patterns deep and straight - mostly designed for long straight roads.
Car tyres on the other hand, esp. off-road tyres are generally softer, the tyres smaller, the tread patterns are more complex for grip on corners, rocks etc - general car handling requirements.
All in all, there are lots of reasons not to expect truck tire like life.
Ciao for now
Andrew preaching typically.

I know all about tread pattern designs on various tyres as
well as tyre contraction.
What I didn’t know is that you got 80 000 out of yours, that is what I needed to know. Thanks,

Cooper AT's 265/75/16 58K so far. Got about 5mm tread left so should be legal for about another15/20K.

thanks mate, this is what I was guessing most people would be getting, around the 80 000km mark... give or take a few.

Our GU had Nexen 265/70/16s (apparently AT tyres, more like HT I think) on when we got it, done 19000 so far and they are about 1/2 worn, I think I will go for a name brand next time....
I suppose they were on so the dealer could get the car out the door for not too much cost.

I've got the Kumhos At 235/85/16, which fit on the standard split-rims, my Patrol is done 80 000km with them and I think it will go safely to 100 000km, maybe more.
They're very good all-around tyre, good off-roaders too.
Of course I
check the pressure on weekly basis and I rotated them more or less every 10 000km... or so.

225/75-16 on Mitsu Triton, approx 65,000km and 7mm tread left, should comfortably see 100,000km... About 80/20 off road on these...

Rick,
750R16 are a tube type tyre - so are only used on split rims. Mostly good for 35-50k each. Because of the tubes, they build up heat and wear quicker.
The 215/85R16 is an uncommon size - only available in a couple of brands - Toyo are one of them. Usually fitted to 6 inch rims on lighter vehicles like the 90series Prado - mileage i'd guess to be 40-50k, because they tend to scrub out on these vehicles.
the 205R16 are commonly fitted to both split and tubeless rims. Diameter is smaller, and tend to go on vehicles like the Hilux, and old jackaroos etc Again, about teh same mileage.
The wider tubeless tyres, say 265/75R16 will give you greater mileage than the 3 sizes you've mentioned.

Thanks mate, I didn't know that about the 750/16's... I would've thought they would last as long as the more popular, fatter tyres, speaking of which, I've got Dunlop Super-Gripper in 750/16 on the rear, will see how it goes...

265x75 16, BFG's current tyres 120,000 k's. My Patrol has 180,000 on the clock and changed them at 60,000. They are good for another 10,000 yet at least. OH!! Only one puncture in that time.. Michael
