Hi Sounds like my old 29l engle i picked it up of the side of the road on a council clean up about 12 month ago.
Brought a new 12v lead for it $35, and cleaned it ,and sold it on ebay for $325.
$250 is an average price for a 25 +\- year old working engle.

while not being a bargain, if it is running
well, it's a fair price assuming it comes with leads etc.
All old engels make noise. ;-)

I bought my 29 litre Engel second hand in 1978, it still goes strong and it rattles. The rattles have been there forever with no effect.

In about 1978 I paid $250 for one of them brand spanking new.
The compressor has rattled on it's mounts since probably 1975. To this day the beer out of it tastes just as good and is just as cold as it was in 1978.
Really, it's like anything on this planet. The fair price is what someone will pay. Maybe discuss it with your mate. Tell him what concerns you and get him to tell you why he thinks it's worth $250.
Geoff.

G'day,
if the seal was in good nick, no cracks inside etc. and you have tested it successfully on freeze, I would have no probs with that price, but would offer $200 :) I guess he's selling it because he doesn't use it?
Sometimes they might not get a bid on ebay if the seller is in some way out place and goods are pick up only.
these are good fridges mate, proven.

Is he a friend or someone you just happen to know?
As someone has stated the new price was approx $250 30 years ago.
