HI Toohey,
I used a piece of 16 gauge mild steal thats about 1mm thick and it doesn't leak considering I didn't use any gaskets or sealant. I did face it on a flat surface before fitting though.

Not sure how thick but just grabbed some sheet steel from under
the bench.
Used new gaskets either side with original bolts.
I suggest you take the pipe right off and put the bottom end on some wet and dry over a sheet of glass to check to see if it is warped.
It will be.

The dictionary quote:
erg an absolute metric unit of work or energy, equal to 10 to the -7 (not sure how to write scientific notation on this dam thing) joule. [from the Greek, ergon=work].
A noise I make after I cut a cable.
erg??????????

I used a piece of 1mm stainless, probably could have done with ordinary mildsteel but the guys said they would do a stainless one for me for the same price, so I went with it. I did not fit a gasket as
well but put a bead of sealastic on the exhaust side. Did not put any sealastic on the intake side as I was worried about the possibility of a piece breaking off and going in to the intake.
Initial impressions so far are good, slight performance improvements across the rev-range, although nothing to get excited about, but yesterday on the highway, where before to maintain 110 kmh the engine use to boost between 8-12 psi, it sat between 4-7 psi yesterday, so I am expecting an improvement in fuel consumption as
well. Will post the results in a few weeks.
Cheers
Snowy
