Have I got Nissan owners attention yet?
OK, only kidding with the heading.
Kathryn (SWMBO) has been talking about getting her own 4B for ages. When we go on 4WD Club trips, we leave the rough stuff to others. Last thing we need is to damage the 'Lux which we use as our touring vehicle.
For months she has been talking about getting a 'shortie'. She wanted a 'real 4WD', but not a full sized wagon and only wanted to spend about $10,000. But she wanted a diesel and they are scarce.
Well after cruising the net for months, she bit the bullet today and bought one.
Got a 1990 Nissan 4.2 D. Bull bar, dual battery, drawer unit (rear
seat removed), tow bar, power points in rear. Seems to be in very good condition and has been used mostly as a touring vehicle. About 260K on the clock.
So now we have a mixed marriage. A Toyota and a Nissan. Lucky we have no prejudice in this family.
With a couple of inches of lift and some better tyres (perhaps 33s), I think it will do everything we are likely to ask of it.
Just hope she lets me drive it sometimes.

Norm ,
Just tell everyone that it was her idea to buy a Nissan , not yours .

"I think it will do everything we are likely to ask of it."
I'm sure it will and with only 260K it should do it for many a year to come.
Mine's 10yrs newer and still got more K's.
It won't take long and you'll be claiming it as "your great decision" and the Lux will quickly become the "Ladies Car" hehehehe.
Cheers from another unbiased dual brand family. GU and Jack.
Trevor.

Hi Norm, my wife has been nagging me for ten years for her own 4wd.
Well the house is nearly paid off. Browseing on the net one night i spotted a nh pajero gls with 63000ks on the clock. Ended up paying $10500. Although i am a toyota man i am really surprised how capable it is even with road tyres. She loves it and arround town it doesnt use much more fuel than her ed futura did. She loves her bushwalking and fishing and she
views the 4by as giving her freedom

We get better fuel economy and spend less on fuel with our NH than what we did with our EL Futura.
Cheers

And we are not both fighting over the 4runner on the weekend if i want to go fishing and she wants to go bushwalking. The ED with sports
suspension was great to drive on sealed roads but had no traction and no clearance. Actually if we could have brought a 2wd that would go where the Pajero will go in 2wd we would not have needed a 2 4wd. The NH we purchased I dont think had ever seen a dirt road. Its getting a rude shock now though

He's still thinking and kicking tyres Brian. Has to sell his car first or borrow money to get it, and dad has turned off the tap.
