Well, that's a misspelling for squeak, as the noise is squick-squick. It is emanting from the GQ's barn door which has the spare wheel attached to it. It seems to dissipate at higher speeds (probably more road noise or under dash rattles)

I have tightened all the outside bolts, pulled the inside door panelling off and tightened the lock mechanism. It still squiks....LOL

Sounds like the door skin might be cracked somewhere.

Anyone out there with a similar experience?

Ta.

Cheers

Could it be the rubber door seals umm, "squicking"??..

Try some silicone or lanolin in the rubbers & see if the "squick" goes away.....

Have put some grease on the rubbers.

No the noise is coming from behind the spare wheel but everything is tight.

G'day Willie,

As an experiment, what about taking the spare wheel off (and maybe even the bracket) and go for a drive to see if the squick is still audible? Not sure about the GQ, but I have heard that the GU's big barn door suffers from internal cracking due to the weight of the spare. Another good reason why I have 2 spare tyres mounted on the steel rear bar (as opposed to the door).

There are some GQ doors for sale on ebay at present (L & R passenger's doors plus the barn doors)

Cheers

Evening Bill

Well I pulled everything off the back door and checked all there is to check and went for a drive and fitted it all back again and in the end found that the the door stop, on the rear doors frame (up where the door closes on to), needed adjustment.

After adjusting the door stopper 'IN' the 'squik' disappeared. There you go.

I am only but an apprentice mechanic...lol

Heather asks Jedda didn't actually grab a red truck as it passed by Bro? You said in the story about the prickly grevilleas, perhaps it is the driver from the truck.

Jedda folks, barks at red, yellow and orange trucks out the window behind the driver.......... Must scare the truck drivers, but I guess the driver of Ruby is already barking mad, so it is said.

Would suggest you adjust the door stopper and I guarantee that it will stop.
