About to install a 3"/ 4" lift to the Cruiser and will need one or the other of these.
Been told to get the steeringback to normal will need 3 degree bushes but have now been hearing that these will crack the mountings in severe 4wding/articulating.There is the option of elongating the holes and welding washer back on(per LCOOL) but am now wondering whats the go with caster correction plates.Do these stress the mountings also or are they more like LCOOL's method.
Im not doing extreme rock crawling or the like but want the suspension to work to its limit where we go.
Which is the best way to go??Cheers Guys Nick

Nick,
wait until you get the lift and see what effect it has has on your truck. I have had a 3 inch lift on my 92 gxl 80 series for over 5 years and no issues with steering or irregular tyre wear.Truck has 400.000 km on the clock and does get driven off road
but not extreme rockhopping as I only have single locker.
cheers
Howard

Hi Nick

You are between the two, if you go the three the caster bushes are great, the problem with cracking is gone now as long as the centre is wider than the rest of the bush, if you go four inches then use the caster plates.

Both work well, I have used both over the years and both are good at what they do.

Whatever you will need a good wheel alignment.

Have fun
Craig

I have a 70 mm lift on an 80 series for 8 years and have no steering issues or tyre wear problems. Just wait and see how yours is before doing anything.

G'Day Nick,

I've recently fitted Lovells springs to mine and it lifted it 4 inches from the old ride height - probably 2 inches from where it should have been sitting. Anyway yes mine swayed and wandered over the road after the lift. Put 3 deg bushes in and a wheel alignment and now I wouldn't even know its lifted. The wheel alignment bloke said that the alignment was "WAY" out!!.
