Hi all,
I'm after a spare wheel rim to suit GU Patrol. Size 16 x 8 in. (standard steel rim). Does anyone know of wreckers or anyone near Syd who may have such a thing.
All advice accepted with gratitude.
Cheers

Probably not much good to you, however I purchased three brand new genuine rims from Perth 4WD Centre about 6 weeks ago - still in the box. He charges $110 each however if you buy a quantity I would haggle. The company will freight the wheels, but I am not sure of the costs involved. Much better than the $400+ that Nissan dealers want.

No problems Kaza. The address is 87 Kew St Welshpool. Phone (08) 9472 3453. I spoke with Phil. He was most helpful and a really nice bloke to do business with. I found them after just about giving up. I had been through the Yellow Pages and visited untold tyre shops. Good luck!

Just realised that you are from Tom Price. We lived there in the early 90's and were members of the 4x4 club. Is it still active or has it gone by the board? (By the way, because I bought a number of rims I actually got mine for under $100 each. I'm sure there are others up your way looking for a second spare.)

remembering that there are lots of cracked GU rims around... Go Cautiously..... Its a thing Nissan replaces all your rims free if they find cracked ones.

Second Hand... CAll the bloke at G&C Comms in Cranbourne Vic, he has a full set forsale.

Hi Cocka,

Ring around all you local Nissan dealers, spare parts section and ask for 2nd hand rims. They can usually be got that way, particularly if there's been a special on mags. If they don't have them, most will take your number and get back to you when they come in, although you may have to wait a little while.

A few months ago we located 3 for our new campertrailer from Giant Nissan in Perth, $100 each brand new, one still in box. Got another one 2 weeks ago (for a 3rd spare between car and trailer) from Mandurah Nissan, $75 cash brand new still in box and came with genuine wheel studs and the black plastic cap that goes over the hub. Pity you're not in Perth, they had some left. (We considered buying them all to make a bit of money on).

OK, so your not in Perth but you may have some luck using this approach where you are.

:o) Melissa

PS: We tried tyre dealers and 4WD wreckers with no luck.

Thanks Melissa for your reply (all three of them)
I'll give them a try but they are usually a lot greedier here on the coast coast, I don't know that I'll get them so cheap.
Kasa if your still on you might try the same. The number for Perth 4WD Centre is 94701755.

Thanks all for your time and good thoughts. Local Nissan dealer - zilch. But phoned a few of the local tyre/mag retailers and have found one - $77. I will check it out today to see if it's OK. Here's hoping, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Cocka
