Hello to all (and thanks in advance for any help)

I have finally committed to upgrading my old RAV to a slighlty less old Prado (1999). However to justify the upgrade, SWMBO requires the Prado to go on gas, or I am not allowed to play with it.

Given that Mr Howard is giving me $2,000 and State Gov is giving me $1,000 to convert to LPG, I feel it is hard to argue with (Plus have also done the research and am satisfied that all will be ok, and will some looking after, the engine will not blow up, or explode, etc).

Can anyone recommend a quality installer, who is sympathetic to 4wd needs (ie tank under rear of Prado) and not bottoming out???

I have investigated a couple, but am seeking the collective wisdom of Perth Forumites, to confirm my research.

If it helps, I am in the northern suburbs, but happy to travel to a quality installer.

Thanks again

RD

Try Rolfs Auto repairs and Gas at 1/81 Holder Way Malaga Ph 9248 6056.
I have been going to him for the past 5+ years and found the service 2nd to none.
We have a 2001 Prado and very nearly put it onto gas earlier this year but due to a few bills at the wrong time pulled out at the last minute. Speaking with Rolf a few weeks ago , like all the other gas conversion guys, he is flat chat and you will have to wait awhile to get it done.
I did see a Prado he was working on earlier this year, you loose the main fuel tank and the gas goes in its place. From memory it does come down a fraction lower that the tank it replaces but for the level of 4wding I do its not a problem.
I would be interested in hearing who you end up going to , I'm a little concerned with what gas will do/ could do to the motor , you hear stories of tuning and head problems - maybe its my head that is the problem!
What sort of mileage do you get now and what do you expect on gas?

RD, Im sure there arent any problems but I was chatting to the workshop manager last week and TOYOTA dont recommend any of their vehicles be conveted to Gas.

Thats why they do not sell any gas ready vehicles...but why dont you give them a ring at Scarb Toyoto and chat. I know it out of warranty but you never know what healthy info they can pass on!

Goodluck with it

Matt.
