Looks really useful, handy for long stays near a suspect
water source - river etc, easier than boiling the
water. I note that it says that they can be produced for US$1.00, but they charge US$20. Nice little earner!
I'll get one when they are available locally, they should come down in price by then.

Just remember that this may only get rid of 99.99% of "biological pathogens", ie not everything. There could be heaps of other nasties in the
water which it cannot remove eg. heavy metals, salts, viruses, pesticides, etc.
Next thing you know, they will be homogenising the stuff :-)

I should add, the device would have its uses, in conjunction with other treatment methods.

worked at a place that had survival packs that included straws that filtered out everything and supposedly you could drink sewradge with them

Cheaper to use the billy or kettle and just boil the
water. As Andrew points out, will not get rid of chemicals and the like though.
