Thanks for the feedback everyone. Much appreciated.. I did check the port settings and that part seems to match up ok. Also the baud rates. The GPS unit fires up fine when I plug it in and I do have the full version of Oziexplorer which also works great. When I try to start up the gps in moving maps I get a com port error message. Do I have to save the gps files in a particular part of Oziexplorer?
Been here, been there, goin again!!

Make sure you do not have the gps unit running any other program at the same time. I know my gps has a program that checks the satelites and if it is running Ozi wont pick up the gps. Just a thought

Ozzie, when you fire up Oziexplorer, make sure your GPS is turned off until Oziexpl is running. Then turn the GPS on and switch on moving maps.
If the GPS is already running, I get lots of funny things happening and it won't work properly.

Some GPS's like Garmins for example need to be put into a communications mode in the setup menu of the device. For example my GPS76 needs to be set to NMEA under the 'Interface' tab to output the NMEA sentance to external devices. If it is set to GARMIN (the default setting) then there is no output so no interface. There are other selections there to choose from but you only need it set to NMEA.

I had port problems with Ozi. The culprit ended up being some Nokia software that grabbed a port to wait for the phone to connect.
