I thought they had earmarked the Defender to have a completely new look, rather than just the slight changes in visuals. The dash has slightly caught up with the times, but the handbrake is still in the wrong spot.
I could certainly live with the 90, thats for sure.

After spending weeks of my life I will never get back in Army 110s a better Defender is up there with the
Easter bunny and Father Christmas....
It is still and uncomfortable sow's ear...it still has vinyl seats!
No amount of makeover will make it better....they do handle
well off road though!

Worth noting Wizard's comment Truckster...that's what you have one for unless of course you just need a Toorak Tractor for the groceries, besides it'll get you to the Cape and back no problem and no need for a stand-in :-)

I would
hazard a guess that more 'toorak tractors' haev been to cape and back over the years by triple at least than landys.... Your point?

Relax.........I'm having a great chuckle over your comment that appeared to imply your (treasured) GU wouldn't be up to a Cape trip......
You are quick to humour others, I guess the shoe just ended up on the other foot for a change.
Have a good weekend.....in the GU :-)

2.4ltr 90kw diesel ,hmmm speeding tickets aren't going to be a big problem. Now if they had put a decent donk in I might have been interested.

Landy,
I note they are using the Ford diesel ex Transit van - was your TD5 a BMW motor? (I know a couple of guys with the 130's and thought they said the diesels were ex Bmw).

Well as far as I am aware the TD5 was a Rover design and when BMW took them over they continued the work on the engine.

ahh a new landie - having owned a 2a and 3 previously (i know it's confession time just don't tell anybody) all i was interested in was getting a dualcab defender when they surfaced...........
well lucky me as my employer said 'here take the new dualcab defender for a run' so off i went. my 2a 3 had removable side windows (a must have) and when you opened the front air vents all the air(and bugs and dust etc) came rushing through and life was just so coool. the new defender though even had power windows (useless) and a dashboard covering the front airvents (more useless) and i had the
seat back in a comfy position and i can't see past the pillar. now this one doesn't look much different to my old ones except maybe a bit prettier but i do know that the ford diesel in the transit is a little ripper - plenty of down low punch. now if landrover can actually manage to work out a price that does not leave all around laughing and shaking their heads then it just might - a very big just might - manage to sell some of these. rgds

Why the hell do they keep putting such overtly and blatantly gay motors in Landrovers? It is totally beyond me. A tiny little high-tech 4 pot whizz-bang screamer in a big rig like that......?
I've driven quite a few Landrovers in my time and 'tedious' springs to mind as an accurate description. I think Julian Clary and 'Dafyd' collaberated on the donk choice. The rest could be OK though.
I wonder if you still need to open the back door to wind the rear window down and also if you bruise you own kidneys with your elbows when driving with the front window up?
